Happy Easter, God
Published in Hardcover by Bethany House (January, 2001)
Authors: Elspeth Campbell Murphy and Jim Lewis
Average review score:

A Unique Easter Book--for Children AND Adults
There's nothing like this book on the market. The prayers and poems are truly child-centered, and the highly unusual pairing of each poem with a scriptural quotation invites adult readers to meditate both on Easter and on children's experience of it.

Simplicity and innocence--and surprising depth.

Haven in the Wilderness : The Story of Frances Zaunmiller Wisner of Campbell's Ferry, Idaho
Published in Unknown Binding by Never Summer Publications ()
Author: Carol Furey-Werhan
Average review score:

A fascinating story about one woman's life
This book had personal meaning for me as it is the story of my great aunt. Growing up I had always heard about my family's trips to Idaho to see Frances. I laid in bed as a child as my grandfather told me stories about hunting bear with Frances and the great times they had. My eyes were filled with wonderment, much as they were after I read this book. It is a true story and I'm proud to say that she was a relative of mine. To read all of the different tales I had heard growing up put together in one book was great. I have lent my autographed copy to many people and all have enjoyed it as much as I did. It truly is a wonderful story.

Healing Yourself With Your Own Voice
Published in Audio Cassette by Sounds True (November, 1994)
Author: Don Campbell
Average review score:

Healing Yourself with your own Voice
I thought this tape was excellent. I listened to it in one sitting and could apply the knowledge. It tells you in plain english why using your voice can heal you. Nobody ever told you why chanting or using vowel sounds could heal you. The tape is fulfilling but leaves you wanting more knowledge of the power of your own voice that we all possess. A hidden jewel.

Health As Liberation: Medicine, Theology, and the Quest for Justice
Published in Hardcover by Pilgrim Pr (May, 1995)
Author: Alastair V. Campbell
Average review score:

Rethinking health
Campbell's book is an examination of what health is, and of how different definitions of health affect the way we structure society. Drawing heavily on Liberation Theology, he argues that justice demands that basic health care needs be met. The book is well written, thoughtful, and compassionate. It is a must read for anyone concerned about the provision of health care, or about the ways in which one's faith should structure thinking about the ethical life.

Review of Hearing by Eye II

Scraps and Scribbles
I think this book is great! I think it's good for 4th-8th graders. Here are a few of its qualities: inexpensive, full of space, funny, every page is different, and it has pockets for mementos! Those are just some of the awesome things about this book.

Historical Atlas of World Myth
Published in Hardcover by HarperCollins (September, 1988)
Author: Joseph Campbell
Average review score:

A brilliant scholar's swan song
At the time Campbell died, he had completed the first 1 and 1/3 volumes of a massive 4-volume work. That this series will remain forever unfinished is one of the greatest tragedies of modern literature.

The intent was to trace the development of myth throughout history and throughout the world. The first volume (The Way of the Animal Powers) covers the most ancient themes of the Paleolithic Great Hunt and its survival into modern (mostly native) cultures which still live by their agreement with the animals they hunt. Volume 2 (The Way of the Seeded Earth) was to deal with planting cultures and the myths of agriculture an the plant world. Of the three main centers of agricultural development (the New World, the Far East, and the Middle and Near East), Campbell completed work only on the first and most recent.

Volume 3 was to cover the myth systems based on astronomical and astrological insight. Volume 4 would have dealt with systems recognizing the microcosm of the human soul as a reflection of the macrocosm of the Universe. A summary of his thoughts on these topics can be found in his classic "Masks of God" series.

The portions of the Atlas which were completed are beautiful books, brilliantly presented, with insights and storytelling worthy of Campbell's genius.

The Homing
Published in Hardcover by Putnam Pub Group (March, 1980)
Author: Jeffrey Campbell
Average review score:

a visionary story; frightening, utopian...
the two authors, actually Jeffrey Caine and Campbell Black have constructed a terrifying story with no-so-unbelievable overtones when one considers the political and social strivings that are so much in evidence today. the story itself, although convoluted and confusing at times, comes into a clear and truly scarifying focus at the end.....highly entertaining, thought provoking and fear-inducing with its possibilities culled straight out of today's headlines (and today's "between-the-lines"). you may never feel the same way about entertainment OR food additives again....
